Job description
Role Overview
As a Software Engineer, you will design, build, and ship full-stack features across our web and mobile products. Based at our Eastern Region office, you'll work closely with cross-functional teams in a HYBRID environment to deliver reliable, performant software, raise engineering standards, and drive technical excellence within our organization.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs in Python, with a focus on reliability, performance, and clean architecture.
- Develop responsive web interfaces in React and cross-platform mobile features in React Native.
- Design and evolve data models, database schemas, and integrations with third-party services.
- Deploy, monitor, and scale applications on GCP or Azure, including CI/CD pipelines and containerized workloads.
- Write automated tests and participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and system stability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including on-call rotation participation as needed.
- Collaborate with product, design, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions and realistic delivery plans.
- Identify and implement improvements to architecture, tooling, and development workflows.
- Document technical decisions, APIs, and system behaviour for the wider team.
Must have requirements
- Proven experience as a full-stack software engineer, with strong capability across both backend and frontend development.
- Solid production experience with Python and at least one modern backend framework (e.g. Django, FastAPI, Flask).
- Strong hands-on experience with React, and practical experience building or maintaining React Native applications.
- Working experience with a major cloud platform, either GCP or Azure, including deployment, networking basics, and managed services.
- Strong understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases, API design, and version control with Git.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of features end to end in a fast-moving environment.
- Outstanding communication and collaboration abilities.
Nice to have requirements
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Bicep), Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Exposure to event-driven architectures, message queues, or serverless patterns.
- Experience with mobile app store release processes for iOS and Android.
- Familiarity with observability tooling, performance profiling, and cost optimization in the cloud.
- Experience in fintech, insurtech, or another regulated domain.
- Interest in AI/ML integration or working with LLM-based features.
